www.Galway.pl is a relatively young project. In 2009 three separate websites for Polish community in Galway city and the surrounding areas got together and decided to join their efforts in order to create one website that would be the ultimate social platform for Polish people living in county Galway.
Currently www.Galway.pl proves to be a great success and definitely fulfills its purpose of bringing its users together. Since the three original sites united, we noticed a great rise in the amount of monthly visitors being now at around 41’000+ per month (compared to about 3k/month for the three previous sites combined). We are also proud witnesses to a steady rise of 10-12% in the amount of monthly visitors since www.Galway.pl was created. On the 1st July 2010 we crossed the invisible barrier of 1’000 unique visitors in one day.
www.Galway.pl helps the newly arrived to make their first steps in the capitol of the Irish Connaught area. In our Guide section (polish: ‘przewodnik’) everyone can find information about this lovely area but also on daily tasks such as finance, law, health and many other subjects that are important to leave in or just visit Ireland.
Another ways in which www.Galway.pl helps its users are:
-> Local news provides daily information what happened not only in Galway city but also in Tuam, Ballinasloe and other places in county Galway. Also we provide the most important news from Ireland and our mainland.
-> Classifieds section (polish: ‘ogłoszenia’). Here every registered member can buy, sell, place a job offer or even offer an empty seat in his car on the way to the airport.
-> Forum section - is a great place for our community to exchange ideas, information and discuss politics and current affairs. The Forum and also the possibility to comment News, creates a great place to get help, share thoughts and opinions which had proven extremely useful and interesting especially during recent Polish events.
-> Local maps with the most recommended places to visit, government buildings, local businesses and many other places of interest.
-> Transport guide and map of how to use community transport in Galway and Ireland
-> Entertainment section gives up to date information about what happened or is going to happen in our area
Every day we are expanding our sections to provide our users with more and more required and most up to date information.
One of the factors that make www.Galway.pl particularly useful for the local Polish community is an area for promoting Polish but also other local businesses. We are helping local shops and services to promote their business by providing free of charge company listing and some ad space. Also for more required customers we are providing paid option of advertising in www.Galway.pl. All of it targets Polish people who often are not aware about some businesses, services and promotions available in local businesses.
To be closer to our society we are cooperating with Polish initiatives in Galway, such as: Galway Irish-Polish Association, Polish Soc from NUI Galway, Galway Polonia Network and Polish School in Galway. Any news, events and other actions are supported by www.galway.pl
Our plans and goals for future are:
· -> the of 2011 be recognized website by local communities and businesses
· -> the end of June 2012 be the most readable Polish website in Ireland
· -> the end of 2012 expand to the level of being new employer in Galway and create new jobs
· -> constantly increase available information and sections on www.galway.pl
By gaining additional funding from ads, sponsors and other sources (click here for more information) we are planning to make www.galway.pl even better service to the community and new place of employment.
